Vegan Cauliflower Recipe

Here is a very delicious vegan cauliflower recipe, simple to prepare and healthy. The flavors complement each other perfectly and give this dish an unforgettable taste. Cauliflower and I, like many other vegetables, were not friends. I didn’t even want to hear about this strange vegetable back then in my childhood. What’s good when we mature is that we see many other things and special situations around us and get the courage to explore more. When I decided to create this blog, I decided to explore more, to find different recipes and many tastes that I do not know. And that’s how this recipe was created, a little here and there, and I managed to enjoy a super healthy vegetable that was missing from my diet.

What makes this dish so special? It is easy! The flavors of the sauce: tomatoes, garlic, basil…

Vegan Cauliflower Recipe

Ingredients

1 medium cauliflower – about 1200 g
2 onions
5 garlic cloves
400 ml tomato sauce
100 ml oil
10 fresh basil leaves
1 small hot pepper
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
1/2 teaspoon of thyme
1/2 teaspoon of oregano




Method

  1. Cut the cauliflower into small florets.
  2. In a large pot, boil the cauliflower on medium heat and start to prepare the sauce until the cauliflower is boiled.
  3. Add oil to a frying pan and saute the onion on low heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Then put into the pan the tomato sauce, whole hot pepper, halved and deseeded, and pressed (or finely chopped) garlic.
  5. Cook on low heat for around 10 minutes and stir gently from time to time.
  6. Add the pepper, thyme, oregano, and chopped basil leaves and whisk gently.
  7. Remove the hot pepper from the pan and add a ladle of water to the sauce – from the water in which the cauliflower was cooked.
  8. Mix the boiled cauliflower florets with the created red sauce, cover the pan with a lid and cook the cauliflower dish for another 5 minutes on medium heat.

How long and how do we store this cauliflower dish?

Like any red sauce itch, the shelf life in the fridge is pretty limited. This food can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three days.

It seems to me the ideal dish for office lunches but also a delicious dinner with a loved one and a good wine.

But what wine goes with this cauliflower dish with red sauce?

As dishes with tomato-based sauces have an acidic tinge. A red wine that highlights both, its taste and the taste of the dish when you pair it with dishes that contain tomato sauce is a wine from the Cabernet Sauvignon. If you prefer rose wine, then the Zinfandel Rose variety is perfect for this delicious dish.

The red sauce I made for this cauliflower dish I also use for the sensational pea dish. This sauce can also be used to prepare pasta. The best combination when you want to prepare a red sauce, no matter what recipe you want to use it for, is tomato sauce + basil + garlic + oregano and pepper. This combination = LOVE.

Why did I want to cook a delicious vegan cauliflower recipe?

Both cauliflower and broccoli, are two of the healthiest vegetables. They contain many beneficial nutrients for the body and many researchers around the world have demonstrated the benefits for our bodies if we eat them often. And what can be more beautiful and pleasant than taking care of our wonderful bodies?

Cauliflower is rich in fiber and contains a wide range of vitamins, almost all the vitamins that our body needs. This fact places cauliflower in the Super Food category. It also contains many antioxidants that protect our bodies and help maintain cell health.

And the list of benefits of eating cauliflower goes on. That’s why I made it an obsession to integrate this superfood into my diet and that’s how this delicious cauliflower dish came out.

The same thing happened to me with broccoli. A vegetable I was not used to and knew nothing about. But I discovered a delicious recipe – broccoli cream soup with goat cheese, that you absolutely must try. It is fabulous! I didn’t think I’d ever say that about a dish that contains broccoli but now it’s my favorite one.




What did I find searching for a vegan cauliflower recipe?

I discovered a beautiful thing, something I don’t expect. I found that there are tons of cauliflower recipes around the world. This fact only makes me happy, because what I want the most is to prepare as many healthy recipes as possible and to present them to you too.

From cauliflower pizza tops to delicious cauliflower and broccoli tarts, creamy soups, delicious baked cauliflower and trout dishes, cauliflower bread, cauliflower meatballs, or cauliflower with parmesan and mozzarella… lots of great dishes that I want to add to my diet.

I kept thinking, where were these sensational recipes hidden? And why I didn’t know that there are many dishes containing this super healthy vegetable? But like any other situation or information, better later than never. So… Let’s cook healthy and discover new recipes!
