They are the kind of quality food that delights your taste buds and are made with only two other ingredients: olive oil and salt. Cooking this type of food are my favorites because you feel an amazing taste from a very simple recipe, you will be surprised when you feel an explosion of tastes even though the dish has only 2-3 ingredients.

I am very happy that I can show you how to cook the authentic Padron Peppers Spanish Recipe.

preparation time: 2 min | cooking time: 5 min | serves: 2

Padron Peppers

250 g Padron Pepper
100 ml olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt

  1. Wash the Padron peppers well, with hot water. They need to be dry after you put them in a pan for cooking. Wipe them with kitchen paper before putting them in the pan.
  2. In a suitable pan, put olive oil and heat it on medium heat. When the oil is hot (in 3-5 minutes) add the peppers. If they still have water on them, a lot of oil will jump out when you prepare them, so it is recommended that they be drained and wiped well.
  3. Stir from time to time so that the peppers are fried on all sides – for 5 minutes. If you see that some of them still have green parts, don’t worry they are very good that way. So 5 minutes is enough for a flavored perfect dish :). If you will fried them for more than 5 minutes they became a bit bitter.
  4. Turn off the heat and add sea salt over them. Mix and transfer them to a large plate. Don’t forget to enjoy and feel all the flavors of this very simple dish.

Ever since I tried this delicious dish in Spain, it has become my favorite and I was very happy when I found Padron peppers at stores in my country. They are prepared super quickly, are super tasty, and are the best dish when you prepare a large meal for the whole family or friends.

P.S. Optionally, you can also add a clove of local garlic, given through the press, 2 minutes before turning off the fire.

A fun fact about these Padron peppers:

What I like about this recipe is that they say that one of ten peppers is very spicy and eating them is like a mystery game. I recommend cooking these peppers at home, but also if you get to Spain don’t forget to go to a tapas restaurant that serves Padron Peppers. People usually eat them with fried eggs and baked potatoes. At tapas restaurants, I serve them alongside various seafood or fish dishes.

Here is a list of some other VEGAN dishes from Spanish cuisine:

Patatas Bravas – those delicious potatoes that are prepared by boiling and then frying. The taste is indescribable and they go very well with a sauce of garlic and/or chili flakes, salsa, and a little olive oil.
Lentil dish – an aromatic stew, super healthy as it contains a variety of vegetables. The secret ingredient is smoked paprika to give that unique taste. You must try this dish.
Vegetable paella – be free to create the best vegan paella. All you need is a special pan for Paella, your favorite vegetables, a touch of imagination, and your favorite spices.
Gazpacho – is that delicious soup that is served cold and is perfect for very hot summer days. This is very refreshing and very healthy. It is made from raw vegetables and I like to add extra black pepper. How do you like to prepare and serve it?
Spanish cuisine is very diverse and essentially simple, which makes me want to explore as many recipes and unique tastes as possible.

Below I present some ideas for vegetarian dishes that can accompany the delicious Padron Peppers:

Leek croquettes – this is a recipe I haven’t tried making yet but it’s on my shortlist. I love dishes with leeks, and these croquettes look AWESOME! I can’t wait to find a suitable recipe, test it and get back to you with the recipe for the best leek croquettes.
Tortilla – is that traditional Spanish omelet made with potatoes and… MOZZARELLA. I have no words to describe this dish, I just can’t get enough of it.
