Guacamole Recipe


3 avocado
1 onion
6 cherry tomatoes
juice from 1/2 lime
1 hot chili pepper
10 fresh cilantro leaves
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
2 local garlic cloves – only if you want

Cooking method for the authentic guacamole recipe

  1. Cut the avocados in half and removed the pit from each one. Then with a spoon remove the flesh of each half and put them in the blender.
  2. Deseed the chili pepper and add it to the blender along with the juice from half a lime, black pepper, and garlic.
  3. Cut the onion into quarters, wash the cherry tomatoes well and add them to the blender.
  4. Chop the coriander leaves and add them to the blender.
  5. Blend the composition until guacamole sauce is created.

The secret to this sauce having a balanced flavor is to prepare it the night before serving and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. In this way, all the flavors intertwine and create a balanced and delicious dish. Otherwise, if you serve it as soon as you have prepared it, it is possible to taste too much garlic or too much coriander. It is necessary to leave it in the refrigerator for at least a few hours before enjoying it.

I served it the next day with toast, but it is also suitable as a snack for guests, along with a healthy portion of nachos.. and a cold beer 🙂

Even if when we prepare guacamole, we use lime or lemon juice that helps to slow down the oxidation process, this is not enough. If you keep guacamole in the refrigerator for more than 2 days, even if covered with plastic wrap or tightly sealed, it will gradually change color. Nobody wants guacamole that doesn’t look appetizing.

Here’s a trick to help you avoid using plastic wrap. We all have to avoid wasting as much as possible and enjoy superb guacamole for up to 3-4 days. All you have to do is put the sauce in an airtight box, smooth the sauce with a spoon, and add an inch of cold water over the guacamole. Put the lid on and it’s ready to sit in the refrigerator.

When you want to enjoy this delicacy, all you have to do is drain the water carefully, mix the sauce and serve it. I tested this method and for 3 days the sauce stays fresh and looked appetizing. Each time I used the sauce I added water on top and put it in the refrigerator to eat the next day.

How to choose avocados from the store?

When buying avocados, it is necessary to make sure that the stem is still on top. It’s very small, but it has to be there. If it has been removed there may be parts of the brown fruit inside.

Also, if the avocado fruit has bumps or is soft in certain parts, you should not buy it. Most likely it was hit and in that area, it has already started to deteriorate.

If you choose to buy avocados that contain a label that shows that they are ripe (ready to eat), you should consume them within a maximum of two days.
