Cinnamon Rice Pudding

Cinnamon Rice Pudding – the dessert of childhood! What I love most when I make this dessert is feeling all the flavors in my kitchen. Cinnamon, vanilla, fragrant lime, and oranges, are the perfect flavors for a gorgeous and easy-to-prepare dessert. This dessert seems suitable for any time of the day, it is a dessert that can be taken to the office or even the perfect dessert to start your day with. It is not very sweet, which makes it adaptable both for those who prefer lighter desserts and for those who prefer sweet desserts, adding a few teaspoons of their favorite sweetness.

Every time I prepare this delicious and creamy dessert and share it with my friends or colleagues, I hear the reply: oh what goodness!… since I haven’t eaten cinnamon rice pudding… And look, this is how I excite them with pleasant childhood memories and that makes me very happy.

Cinnamon Rice Pudding

Ingredients

1 L milk
150 g rice
60 g sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
half a teaspoon of orange peel
optional for garnishing and serving: cinnamon to everyone’s taste

Method

  1. In a pot, put the milk, rice, sugar, and cinnamon stick.
  2. Cook the composition on medium heat for 50 minutes and mix it with a wooden spoon from time to time.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and add the lime juice, vanilla, and grated orange zest. I found packaged grated orange peel in the cake ingredients section of the supermarket. I don’t usually peel commercial oranges because I’ve seen that most of them have warnings like we shouldn’t eat their peel. If you can’t find grated orange peel, you can buy an orange essence and add half a teaspoon of oranges essence.
  4. Cook the whole composition for another 10 minutes and stir gently from time to time. Don’t worry if it seems like there is too much milk, the rice will absorb it.
  5. Turn off the heat, cover it with a lid, and let this cinnamon rice pudding rest for about 20 minutes to get a perfect consistency.
  6. Put the rice pudding in a bowl and garnished it with cinnamon.

I enjoyed this delicious and simple dessert with my loved ones. It reminded me of the taste of my childhood and I realized that I can fit this delicious dish into my comfort food.

Suggestions for serving Cinnamon Rice Pudding:

What I like most about this dessert is that it pairs easily with other flavors and textures. You can enjoy a creamy, crunchy, sweet, or lighter dessert, depending on your preferences. Like the basic recipe, it’s lighter, I didn’t add a lot of sugar.

  • Therefore you can add extra sweetness with a teaspoon of honey and some chopped walnuts.
  • Another way to add extra sweetness is to add your favorite jam. I like the combination of Cinnamon Rice Pudding with blueberry jam, bitter cherries, sour cherries, or even quince. I love it when autumn comes and I make the wonderful quince jam. I immediately prepare Cinnamon Rice Pudding and enjoy this delicacy right from the top of the bed. This is how I turn rainy autumn days into real days of relaxation and indulgence with delicacies.
  • also, another super good option, which I usually prepare especially for breakfast, is to add some fresh blueberries, mangoes, and some granola or just some nuts to Cinnamon Rice Pudding. It is a super good option to consume the daily requirement of fresh fruits and oleaginous fruits.

Why don’t I skip adding cinnamon and extra cinnamon every chance I get?

Well, cinnamon is a spice that I rarely use in the kitchen. At the moment I don’t know many recipes that contain this super healthy spice. I am so happy when I find a recipe that contains cinnamon and I try to enjoy the benefits it gives my body every time. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It can reduce the bad effects of high consumption of foods rich in unhealthy fats. Therefore, cinnamon can also improve bad cholesterol levels and help us have better digestion.

Cinnamon is the base spice in the cuisines of North Africa, India, Mexico, and the Middle East. I want to know more delicious recipes with cinnamon and know how to cook it in basic dishes, not just desserts. Until then, let’s see in which dishes we are used to adding cinnamon:

  • the French toast are easy to prepare, and a pinch of cinnamon gives them elegance and a unique flavor.
  • baked apples with jam and cinnamon. There is no way to miss cinnamon in this seasonal dessert. We all know this is the taste and smell of autumn.
  • apple pie doesn’t taste complete until it gets the taste of cinnamon and the smell of vanilla. A culinary delight!
  • And the famous cinnamon rolls with a vanilla sauce confused Instagram with the fluffiness and visual art created when the vanilla sauce envelops the famous cinnamon dessert.
